Based on reports from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the heavy downpour and strong winds brought about by typhoons Pedring and Quiel left the provinces of Central Luzon in great destruction. The hardest hit province was Bulacan with an estimated 10,649 families in 111 villages in its 8 municipalities affected. To again respond to the call of bayanihan, the Feed the Hungry, Inc. (FTH) and the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) implemented a second segment of relief operations for victims affected by the two typhoons in Bulacan last October 5, 2011. Another 1,000 families were given relief goods from the funds raised by FTH, and participants of the recently concluded Global Summit of Filipinos in the Diaspora. The relief goods were distributed to Brgys. Pinalagdan, San Isidro and San Jose in the town of Paombong, and Brgy. Sto. Niño in Calumpit.
The Commission on Filipinos Overseas team headed to Bulacan as early as 7:00 a.m. together with Dr. Willie and Mrs. Lottie Buhain of FTH. Upon arrival in Paombong, the team was received by Ms. Lourdes Pangan, Municipal Social and Welfare Development Officer of Paombong, who requested that the group be divided into two to serve two areas simultaneously. One group headed to to Brgy. San Isidro while the other went to Brgy. Pinalagdan.

After the separate implementation, both groups went back to the municipal hall of Paombong and proceeded to the second destination, which was coordinated by Ms. Michelle Gonzales, a relative of Mr. Bobby Tamayo, Treasurer of FTH and a resident of San Jose, Paombong. Ms. Gonzales accommodated about 200 people in their family’s compound during the surge of typhoons Pedring and Quiel. 200 bags were distributed to those who stayed in the said compound. The CFO team introduced to the crowd the projects and programs of the Feed the Hungry Inc. in cooperation with the Commission on Filipinos Overseas and its LINKAPIL Program.
After lunch, the group went to their last destination, Calumpit, Bulacan. Since the municipal hall of Calumpit was also damaged by typhoons Pedring and Quiel, the group proceeded to the command post of Calumpit where they were received and assisted by Ms. Marineth Lazaro, municipal social worker. The group has to pass through the flooded area to reach Brgy. Sto. Niño which was not passable to light vehicles so they had to ride the truck carrying the relief goods.During the distribution, the recipients showed their appreciation to the donors. While they had to walk in the floods to claim the donation, people did this willingly considering the destruction of the typhoons to their areas.
