GOAL 1: Eradicate Extreme Poverty and Hunger

MICRO-ENTERPRISE/LIVELIHOOD

The "Tulong-Pangkabuhayan" Program is positioned to improve socio-economic conditions in the countryside by encouraging small-scale or alternative income-generating activities and to instill the value of self-help and cooperation in the community. Donations may be directed to barangays, non-government organizations and cooperatives for new or on-going livelihood programs and micro-enterprises. Assistance may come in various forms:

1. Grant/s to capitalize a project beneficiary

2. Donation of equipment or resources to start up or sustain projects to improve productivity, profitability and income

3. Low-interest bearing loan/s to duly registered cooperatives and organizations with repayment schemes arranged through a local bank

SUPPLEMENTARY FEEDING

Donor support for Feeding / Soup Kitchen projects is designed to improve the health of malnourished children in depressed communities. These also serve as a vehicle for parent education. Supplemental food is provided to children below 7 years old over a 6-month period. Seminars on parenting cover basic child-care and nutrition. Mothers participate by taking on marketing and cooking chores.

GIFT-GIVING

Donors may conduct gift-giving activities to children with limited access to food and other basic necessities, e.g., toiletries, school supplies, clothing, etc. Gift packs are distributed to deserving groups identified by local partners, government agencies and NGOs in the community.

RELIEF ASSISTANCE

Relief assistance during calamities or natural disasters may be donated in the form of cash, food supplies and other basic necessities. These are channeled to humanitarian agencies and NGOs duly accredited and licensed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

SKILLS-TRANSFER

Overseas Filipino experts in education, agriculture, science, technology, and other relevant fields are tapped to provide volunteer services to deserving beneficiaries through local government units/agencies, academe and communities where their expertise can have maximum impact. These include value-adding projects such as:

1. Training/seminar-workshops

2. Internships/consultancies in government agencies, duly accredited NGOs and local communities
