GOAL 5: Improve Maternal Health
HEALTH AND WELFARE
The "Tulong-Pangkalusugan" Program promotes health care among Filipinos especially in impoverished rural areas. The program enables indigent groups, especially pregnant/lactating mothers, orphans, street children, the elderly, and the physically challenged to have greater access to health services and social benefits. Assistance may come in the form of the following:
1. Medical or surgical missions to provide free services and medicines
Note: Former Filipino citizens who have passed licensure examinations in the Philippines may practice their respective professions in the country pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 541. To do so, such individuals must secure temporary special permits from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). Please refer to Annexes A and B for the procedures and requirements for the renewal of professional licenses of former Filipino citizens and for applying for temporary special permits from the PRC.
2. Medical equipment and supplies to ill-equipped public and private (primary and secondary) hospitals duly accredited by the Department of Health
3. Funding support or provision of medicines to reduce child mortality and improve maternal health and for campaigns / drives against common but fatal diseases (e.g., tuberculosis, malaria, dengue fever) in coordination with public health offices, local medical societies, foundations, and duly accredited NGOs
4. Pre-natal and infant vitamins to boost health and the immune system
